-In real life, the Hogwarts Express is called the "Olton Hall" and runs between Scarborough and York.
-Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick) also played the Gremlin in the government's literacy campaign adverts and played an Ewok in Star Wars. He was also one of the Gringott's Goblins in HP1.
- J. K. Rowling named the driver and conductor of the Knight Bus after her grandfathers, Ernie and Stanley.
- In the Spanish translations of the Harry Potter books, Neville Longbottom's toad, Trevor, has been translated as a turtle instead of a frog.

- Ginny's full name is Ginevra, not Virginia.
- Fred and George were born on April Fool's day.
