Karkaroff, Igor Headmaster of Durmstrang. He is a former death eater who is currently on the run from Lord Voldemort.

Karkus Was the first Gurg, King of the Giants, that Hagrid and Madam Maxime met in Book 5. Hagrid and Madam Maxime found his head “lyin’ at the bottom o’ the lake” one morning.

Kirke, Andrew Gryffindor beater in Book 5.

Kreatcher The Black's family house elf. He is very faithful to Sirius’s mother and he tricked Harry into thinking that Voldemort had captured Sirius and was torturing him.

Krum, Viktor Bulgarian Quidditch team's Seeker. One of the best and youngest Seeker’s in the world. He attends Durmstrang and was Hermione’s date at the Yule Ball. He is described as “surly [faced] with heavy black eyebrows”.

Lestrange, Bellatrix Sirius' cousin, married Rodolphus Lestrange. She is responsible for making Sirius fall through the Veil, causing him to perish forever.

Lockhart, Gilderoy Former Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. He is a very famous wizarding writer. Fred once jokingly remarked that Mrs. Weasley fancies him. A backfiring memory charm caused Lockhart to lose his memory and he is currently a patient at St. Mungo’s.

Longbottom, Algie Neville's great uncle.

Longbottom, Alice Neville's mother who was tortured by the Lestranges. She is a patient at St. Mungo’s.

Longbottom, Enid Neville's great aunt.

Longbottom, Frank Neville's father who was tortured by Bartemius Crouch Jr. and lost his memory. He is a patient at St. Mungo’s.

Longbottom, Neville An extremely forgetful Gryffindor student. However he is highly skilled at the subject of Herbology. And he owns a toad named Trevor.

Lovegood, Luna A peculiar Ravenclaw who’s father is editor of The Quibbler.

Lupin, Remus Former Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher; a werewolf. He was best friends with James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew.

MacDougal, Morag Student at Hogwarts.

MacMillan, Ernie Hufflepuff boy who was one of the students petrified by the Basilisk.

Malfoy, Draco Harry's arch-nemesis. He is a Slytherin student and Seeker. His family is very well off.

Malfoy, Lucius Draco's father; a Death Eater. He bought Nimbus 2001 Racing Brooms for the entire Slytherin Quidditch Team. Many people suspect that he bribes Ministry of Magic officials as well.

Malfoy, Narcissa Draco's pale-faced mother.

Malkin, Madam Owns a robe shop in Diagon Alley.

Mason, Mr. and Mrs. A rich builder and wife who come to a dinner party at the Dursley's on Harry's twelfth birthday. Uncle Vernon had hoped to receive a large order for drills from them but his plans fail when the Masons are scared off by Dobby’s actions and flying owls.

Marchbanks, Griselda Member of the Wizengamot and supports Dumbledore. She was also an O.W.L. examiner in Book 5 and is friends with Neville's grandmother.

Marsh, Madam Got sick on the Knight Bus in Book 3.

Maxine, Olympe Half-giant Headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy. She claims that she is not half-giant and that she is merely big-boned. Hagrid has a crush on her.

McGonagall, Minerva Strict Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts. She is Head of Gryffindor house and Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts. She is also a large Gryffindor supporter and enjoys Quidditch very much.

McGuffin, Jim Muggle weatherman that was seen on the news at the Dursley’s.

McKinnons A Family killed by Voldemort several years ago.

Meadowes, Dorcas Member of the original OotP. They were killed on Voldemort’s orders.

Meliflua, Araminta Sirius' mother's cousin. Tried to force through a Ministry Bill to make Muggle-hunting legal.

Merlin A Chocolate Frog card character.

Mimsey-Porpington, Sir Nicholas de Nearly Headless Nick's real name. He is the Gryffindor house ghost and his head is held on by a miniscule piece of flesh. He has been dead for over 500 Years and wishes he had been completely beheaded so that he could join the elite group called “The Headless Hunt”.

Moaning Myrtle Very unhappy female ghost that haunts the upstairs girls' bathroom. She was killed by the Basilisk at Hogwarts when the Chamber of Secrets was first opened.

Montague Slytherin Quidditch captain in Book 5.

Moody, Alastor Former Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts (Book 4). He is a highly successful auror, however some think he is overly paranoid. The summer after Harry’s third year at Hogwarts, Moody was stunned and kept in a box throughout the entire Hogwarts school year while he was being impersonated by the late Bartemius Crouch Jr.

Moon The last name of a Hogwarts student mentioned during one of the sorting ceremonies.

Moony Remus Lupin's childhood nickname. He helped create the Marauder’s Map.

Morgana A Chocolate Frog card character.

Mulciber Death Eater

Munch, Eric Ministry of Magic security guard. He checked Harry’s wand when he went to his Hearing.

Mrs. Norris Filch's pesky cat that patrols the Hogwarts castle looking for any rule-breaking students. She was petrified by the Basilisk in Book 2.

Nearly Headless Nick See “Mimsey-Porpington, Sir Nicholas de”

Nigellus, Phineas Sirius' great, great, grandfather. He was also the least popular Headmaster Hogwarts ever had.

Norbert Hagrid's pet dragon (Norwegian Ridgeback). Harry and Hermione helped send Norbert to Ron’s brother Charlie who takes care of Dragons in Romania .

Nott A Student at Hogwarts mentioned in the Sorting Ceremony in Book 1.

Ogden, Tiberius: Member of the Wizengamot.
