Searching For David’s Heart

A Review by April

Searching For David’s Heart is a Christmas story of faith, hope, and love. It is a definite must-read for everyone during the Christmas Holidays, or any other time of year.

Darcy is only eleven years old, and idolizes her older brother, David. Darcy and her best friend, Sam, practice magic tricks all the time because Sam wants to become the next Houdini. Darcy’s twelfth birthday rolls around, and David is still seriously dating a girl named Jayne. She doesn’t like Jayne because she is jealous of the attention Jayne gets from her brother. When Jayne shows up at her birthday party, Darcy gets upset and storms up to her room. Later that night, Darcy decides to follow David and Jayne to the park. She overhears a conversation between the two about Darcy that unsettles her. She suddenly bursts from her hiding place behind the bushes, and reveals her true feelings towards Jayne to both Jayne and her brother. As Darcy is running away, David is chasing after her to apologize. Suddenly, a tragic accident occurs that will change Darcy’s life forever. Can she live with what she has done, and carry on with guilt forever? Will she ever tell the truth of what happened that night? Read Searching For David’s Heart to find out!

I thought that this was an amazing book that does an excellent job of illustrating human emotions. The way the characters act and feel relate so much to real life. If you are a sap for sappy stories, this one will definitely tug at your heart! I would give it five stars for it's excellence!

The reading level of this book is 5th grade, ages 10-11. Although it has a low reading level, I recommend it to everyone! I strongly advise you NOT to read the summary on the back of the book because, if it’s the same copy as mine, it will tell you too much about what happens!
