Twister

A Review by Daniel

Since I live in Oklahoma, which is the setting of this film, it is no wonder I like this movie. If you don't live in one of the central US states, known as Tornado Alley, is harder to appreciate this story.

Twister is a story about a group of storm chasers who want to help out the scientific community and to be able to provide an earlier warning to residents when a tornado is approaching. Jo (Helen Hunt) and Bill (Bill Paxton) Harding are in the middle of signing divorce papers, however their passion for storms helps to rekindle their relationship.

Together, with their team of expert storm chasers, Bill and Jo track the storm of a lifetime. This business is very personal to Jo because her father died due to a tornado when she was very young.

You may be asking, "WHY WOULD YOU CHASE AFTER A TORNADO?!" well the reason they are tracking the tornados is because they have created a devise, code-named Dorothy, that if used properly will provide more information about tornadoes in thirty seconds than what they've learned in thirty years. But to use the devise, they must find a tornado and place the device in its path... and then escape, before they are sucked away to their death.

This really is quite a good movie. The CG tornados are very realistic and terrifying in appearance. Some of the acting is a little "cheesy" at times but there's not enough to ruin the movie. I highly recommend this movie to everyone, especially if you've never had the chance to see a tornado in action.
